A night out for parents/caregivers and professionals, to learn about FASD and to build capacity and support for brighter futures.
About this Event
If you or someone you know cares for a child or adult that has a known or suspected history of pre-natal alcohol exposure, find out how that could be impacting them. Learn that it is not your parenting or caregiving, but the effects of alcohol on a person’s brain development that affects how they process information from the world around them, and as a result impacts what we perceive to be their behaviour. As a parent/caregiver, this is a great opportunity to invite friends, family and other people in your support network, to learn what FASD is and its impact on your family. As a professional, learn how you can support those living with FASD and their families.
With Jeff Noble – Jeff is the Founder and CEO of Noble Initiatives , an organization that provides hope and education to people caring for someone living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) through online applications and in-person training sessions, demonstrations and consultations. He is also the creator of the Caregiver Kick Start!, an online coaching program that offers education and support to FASD caregivers through live coaching calls, online learning modules and conversations with other leading FASD experts.
THE KEYS TO FASD SUCCESS – For parents and caregivers to be successful (and sane) in this lifetime career that they have selflessly devoted themselves to, there are specific elements that will guarantee a winning outcome: Respite, Training, Coaching and Understanding Grief and Loss. Jeff will provide participants with an intensive overview of the realities of raising/caring for someone with an FASD and the unique demands and challenges that professionals and systems often overlook. Participants are provided with practical, research based theories and strategies that will focus on the FASD caregiver and building capacity through mentorship and (non-traditional) support systems.
